Willow’s counselling is here for the parts that feel the heaviest. Whether you are navigating the profound isolation of loss, desiring deeper connection with your partner, finding your footing in parenthood, or anything in between, you don’t have to carry it alone. Our counselors provide the expert guidance and the steady support you deserve — meeting you online, in our office, through a home visit, or a walk-and-talk.
-
Whether you are navigating a specific crisis or just feeling the weight of a difficult season, we provide specialized support for individuals and relationships:
When it feels heavier than expected: For those navigating the profound isolation of miscarriage, stillbirth, or TFMR, or the high-stress reality of a NICU stay or a new diagnosis.
When you’re finding your footing: For the identity shifts, the intrusive thoughts, or the overwhelming "newness" of parenthood that leaves you feeling invisible or exhausted.
When the connection feels strained: For couples and relationships looking to bridge the gap, improve communication, and find their way back to each other during a high-pressure season.
When the plan changes: For processing birth stories that didn't go as expected, navigating high-risk pregnancies, or the long, emotional road of infertility and IVF.
When you just need a place to land: For the "anything in between"—the moments where you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or simply like your reality doesn’t match the dream you had.

Counseling at Willow isn’t about sitting on a sterile couch and being "analyzed." It’s a collaborative, down-to-earth partnership designed to fit into your actual life. Here is how we work together:
A Conversation, Not a Clinical Interview We start where you are. There’s no pressure to have the "perfect" words for how you feel. We offer a steady, non-judgmental space to untangle the heavy parts, whether we are processing a specific event or navigating the daily exhaustion.
Support That Moves With You We meet you in the way that feels most supportive for your current reality. That might mean a quiet hour in our office, a convenient online session during a nap time, a home visit in a space where you’re comfortable, or a walk-and-talk in the fresh air.
Grounded Tools for Real Life While we hold space for deep feelings and grief, we also focus on the practical. We work with you to find coping strategies, communication tools for your relationship, and ways to find your footing when things feel unpredictable.
A Paced Approach You lead the way. We move at a pace that feels safe for you—whether you need short-term support to get through a crisis or a longer-term relationship as you navigate the ongoing shifts of family life.
-
When you are in the middle of a "heavy" season, it can be hard to see a way through. Counseling provides a dedicated space to pause, breathe, and begin to untangle the overwhelm. Here is how our work together makes a difference:
Validating Your Reality Often, the hardest part of parenthood is feeling like you "should" be handling things differently. We provide a non-judgmental mirror that reflects back the truth: what you are going through is hard, and your reaction to it is human.
Reducing the Isolation There is an immediate lightness that comes from no longer carrying a heavy experience alone. Sharing the weight with a professional who understands the nuances of loss, birth, and new parenthood helps you feel seen and anchored.
Gaining Emotional Clarity When emotions feel like a tangled web, we help you pull the threads apart. Whether it's grief, anxiety, or the strain on your relationship, we work together to name what you’re feeling so it feels less scary and more manageable.
Building a Personal "Toolbox" We don't just talk; we help you find practical ways to cope. This might look like communication strategies for you and your partner, grounding techniques for intrusive thoughts, or a roadmap for navigating a complex medical diagnosis.
Finding a Way Forward Support isn't about "fixing" the past or "curing" grief; it’s about integration. We help you find a way to carry your experience forward so that it no longer defines your entire horizon, allowing room for hope and healing to grow again.

Common Questions
-
In your first session, your counsellor will take time to get to know you, your story, and what has brought you to Willow. You’ll be invited to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
Your counsellor may ask gentle questions about your current situation, your history, and what you are hoping counselling might help with. Together, you will begin identifying your needs and goals and decide how best to work together.
The first session is primarily about creating a safe, supportive space, exploringand ensuring counselling feels like the right fit for you.
-
Peer support groups at Willow are facilitated spaces where people with shared experiences come together to offer mutual understanding, connection, and encouragement. The focus is on community, shared stories, and reducing isolation.
Counselling is one-to-one support with a trained professional who can help you process your experiences more deeply, work through complex emotions, and explore patterns, relationships, and personal growth in a structured way.
Many people find that peer support and counselling complement each other beautifully. One offers community, and the other offers personalised therapeutic care.
-
Not at all. While we specialize in specific perinatal challenges like loss and birth trauma, many of the people we support are simply navigating the massive identity shift of parenthood. If things feel heavy, or if your reality doesn’t match the dream you had, that is reason enough.
-
That is completely okay. We move at your pace. Some sessions might be about processing a specific event, while others might just be a space for you to catch your breath and feel seen. You are always in control of the conversation.
-
Yes. Counselling at Willow is confidential. What you share with your counsellor is kept private and protected.
There are only a few legal exceptions to confidentiality, such as if there is risk of harm to yourself or others, or where required by law. Your counsellor will explain these clearly to you at the beginning of your work together.
-
There is no set number of sessions, because it varies for each person.
Some people come for a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others choose longer-term support during significant life transitions. Together with your counsellor, you can regularly review how you are feeling and decide what feels right for you.
You are always in control of how long you engage in counselling.
-
These sessions are designed to be as low-stress as possible. For a home visit, there is no need to tidy up or "prepare" for us. We meet you exactly as you are. For a walk-and-talk, we choose accessible paths and set a pace that feels comfortable for you.
-
Absolutely. Whether we are meeting in the office, at your home, or for a walk-and-talk, your baby is always welcome to be with you.
